This would be considered the ultimate in Rock n Roll Costumes for Halloween, you would be a ghost and your favorite rock star.

It’s Halloween time again and you are feeling a little rebellious, in the 1950s sense of the term. You decide you want to rock n roll for Halloween but can’t decide which way to go. Should you attempt the early 1960’s Beatles look of a suit, tie, and bowl cut? Or how about the Glam Rock God look of the 80’s with leopard print leather pants, tight t shirts and tons of makeup in hand?

When it comes to using a rock n roll theme for Halloween, naturally the easiest look to pull off is that of the King of Rock N Roll himself- Elvis Presley. Due to his immense popularity, his look has been impersonated and emulated for decades and can be accomplished with ease. You can take two routes to accomplish this look as well with the first choice being to just purchase pre made Elvis Rock n Roll Costumes and the second and more adventurous choice being the creation of your own custom Elvis Presley costume. If you want to take the quick and painless route of purchasing a pre made costume, this can be accomplished as easily as heading online to any Halloween costume store. If a Halloween store is worth its weight in candy corn they should have at least a handful of pre made Elvis costumes ready to order. If you want to take the “scenic” and adventurous route of making an Elvis costume yourself, here are a few easy to do steps and tips to get you on your way to Rock N Roll Royalty.

The first thing you need to do is find yourself a pair of white polyester pants. You can more than likely find these at your local thrift store as it isn’t too often that you see anyone wearing white polyester pants these days. After that you need to find a matching white dress shirt to make it seem as if you are wearing a white polyester suit. Once you have the basics down it is time to find the gaudiest belt known to man. You can probably get this at a local thrift or vintage store as well or you can make your own using a sash. The Elvis look isn’t complete without a cape so that’s next on the list. I don’t know about you but there aren’t very many cape stores around my neighborhood so your best option may be to use some old white curtains tied around the neck with some string.

So you have the outfit all taken care of and now here is where the real fun part begins. Go to an arts and crafts store and purchase some glitter, sequins, and rhinestones to accent your outfit. If you have a glue gun great but if not some super glue will do the trick as well. Decorate the seams of the pants, chest and sleeves of the shirt and back of the cape as you please. Once you are all sparkly and glittery you just need a few more things to make this Rock n Roll Costume complete. Find a large pair of sunglasses, either grow some mutton chops or make your own, and get some hair gel to create that famous Elvis hairdo. Once you have done all of this you are ready for a night out on the town in your glittery cape and polyester pants!
